Our Values

OUR CORE VALUES

At The Jericho House, we focus on more than just recovery from addictions. We focus on personal development and growth, helping each man to recognize why he started his addiction, realize how his choices have impacted his life and others, and know how to rewrite his future.

Not only do our residents develop these values, but our staff and team also agree to continually grow in these fundamental areas. We believe that our core values aid in taking the STEP from earthly desires to those of the spirit.

We honor and serve Jesus Christ as Lord and head of the body of Christ (the Church). We serve Jesus first which enables us to better serve those seeking help from us with Love, Purpose, and Intention.

True servanthood is seeking to serve like Christ. This means without a focus on personal gain in power or control, but instead to grow in humility and Christlikeness.

During recovery, our men are required to be a part of a work program and care for a portion of the facility maintenance. These two tasks instill a work ethic and attitude that will lead to diligent, hardworking men who honor God through what they do.

Our desire is that all of our residents develop a good work ethic and become strong men who serve the Lord well through their servant leadership.

Matthew 20:25-28
“Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles LORD it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant .’”

1 Peter 2:21-23
“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.”

Colossians 3:23-24
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

The core belief of any Biblically based ministry is found in the teachings of Jesus and His anointed servants as found in Scripture.

Learning is a continual process of growth, decision, and change. The whole idea of growth is cultivating a teachable spirit that wants to learn and become a better person.

Our desire is that each man will mature in their thinking and decisions so that they can acknowledge the lies of this world and recognize where their true identity and strength come from.

Ephesians 4:13-16
“Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work”

Pointing all who seek our help to the one true deliverer by exhorting and encouraging commitment through communion based on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Once our men take ownership of their past decision, they are able to begin to change and grow. Throughout this process, we are dedicated to lifting them up and reminding them of the truth.

Overcoming addiction is impossible through their own power, but by God’s grace we can change. He provides exactly what we need to do so: brothers and sisters to bear each other’s burdens, support, encourage, and speak truth in love into each other’s lives.

Family and strong relationships are an integral part in the healthy functioning of each individual. Our program helps rebuild relationships and establish accountability within each man’s life as this is paramount for their personal development and recovery. Through family relationships, community relationships, and brothers and sisters in Christ, our program encourages men to develop a strong foundation through each relationship.

Ecclesiastes 4:9
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”

Ephesians 4:15
“Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.”

Equipping the men and their families to walk in the truths of who God says they are by recognizing their true identity and forsaking the old life and moving into new freedom in Christ.

We are unable to be a new creation until we are no longer of this world. Knowing where our true identity lies leads to a radically transformed individual, knowing how to rightly love ourselves and other people.

Our desire is that those who attend our program would develop tools so when they leave our program they can find true freedom, peace, know how to learn more about the truth of God’s character, be diligent and disciplined, serve well, and find fulfillment.

2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

Ephesians 2:10
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Galatians 5:16-17
“So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.”
